Seasonal Outdoor Maintenance - Public Works Department
The City of Balcones Heights, Texas is now accepting applications for a Seasonal Outdoor Maintenance position. Outdoor maintenance includes, but not limited to, mowing grass, cleaning drainage ways, minor street repair and maintenance, replacing street signs, graffiti removal. Experience preferred but not required. Applicants must have the ability to understand oral direction. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license. Starting wage is $11.00/hour. No benefits. Workdays: Monday – Friday.

Maintains and operates a central point for receiving emergency and non-emergency information via E911 telephone, non-emergency telephone, two-way radio, Mobile Data Terminal, teletype and by person between the public, law enforcement emergency services, outside public safety agencies, and numerous other outside agencies.
Requirements: HS graduate, or equivalent, must possess the State of Texas TCLEOSE Telecommunications Operator Certification. Prior emergency dispatching experience. Multi-tasking skills a must. Hours include shift work, weekends and holidays.
Must be available to work 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and/or 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., weekdays, holidays, and weekends. Schedule's may change as needed.

This is a responsible non-supervisory position as a sworn peace officer. Duties include patrolling an assigned area by foot, vehicle, or other means to prevent crime and to enforce laws and ordinances; responds to emergency and routine calls for service, makes arrests with and without warrant, assesses situation and takes appropriate action; gathers and disseminates intelligence information; writes and files offense/incident reports on crimes and activities; and assists the general public.
Certificates and Licenses Required:
***Valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license
***A basic peace officer certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Associates Degree in law enforcement or related field, plus at least one (1) year experience.
High School graduation or its equivalent, plus some college course work in law enforcement or a related field, and at least one year police experience.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and satisfies state statutes.
Full time, Salary 39,800.43, Benefit package includes: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, vacation and sick leave, holidays, Social Security Program, Texas Municipal Retirement System package with a 7%, 2 to 1 match, and an optional 457 deferred compensation plan.
