Full-time Deputy Court Clerk

The City of Balcones Heights, Texas, is now accepting applications for the Full-time position of Deputy Court Clerk. Applicants must have the ability to acquire knowledge of municipal court procedures and other related regulations and codes; ability to operate or demonstrate ability to learn to operate a computer and other standard office machines; ability to understand oral and written instructions and directions; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with fellow employees and with the general public; must practice sound safety and work habits. Requires high school graduate or equivalent with courses in typing and/or bookkeeping preferable and minimum of one year’s progressively responsible experience in clerical functions of the judicial system, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities or an equivalent combination of training, and experience.

Maintains and operates a central point for receiving emergency and non-emergency information via E911 telephone, non-emergency telephone, two-way radio, Mobile Data Terminal, teletype and by person between the public, law enforcement emergency services, outside public safety agencies, and numerous other outside agencies.

Requirements: HS graduate, or equivalent, must possess the State of Texas TCLEOSE Telecommunications Operator Certification. Prior emergency dispatching experience. Multi-tasking skills a must. Hours include shift work, weekends and holidays.

Must be available to work 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and/or 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., weekdays, holidays, and weekends. Schedule's may change as needed.

Police Officer Full-Time



This is a responsible non-supervisory position as a sworn peace officer. Duties include patrolling an assigned area by foot, vehicle, or other means to prevent crime and to enforce laws and ordinances; responds to emergency and routine calls for service, makes arrests with and without warrant, assesses situation and takes appropriate action; gathers and disseminates intelligence information; writes and files offense/incident reports on crimes and activities; and assists the general public.

Certificates and Licenses Required:

***Valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license
***A basic peace officer certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement


Associates Degree in law enforcement or related field, plus at least one (1) year experience.


High School graduation or its equivalent, plus some college course work in law enforcement or a related field, and at least one year police experience.


Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and satisfies state statutes.


Full time, Salary 39,800.43, Benefit package includes: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, vacation and sick leave, holidays, Social Security Program, Texas Municipal Retirement System package with a 7%, 2 to 1 match, and an optional 457 deferred compensation plan.
