Incorporated in 1948, the unique suburb of three-thousand residents, is located at the intersection of Loop 410 and Interstate 10. Considered one of the smallest cities in area, the pear-shaped city of .7 square mile, boasts easy accessibility to all parts of Bexar County within a reasonable time to include downtown San Antonio on the IH-10 Highway.
Fast becoming a mecca for new businesses, Balcones Heights is the home of the Norris Conference Center, Crossroads Mall Convention Center, the largest Super Target in the Southwest, the TexSan Heart Hospital, Dave & Busters, Gold’s Gym, and a branch of Wachovia Bank,
Boasting a Crime Control District, the City built a 3.5 million dollar state-of-the-art Justice Center at 3300 Hillcrest. The City is the host of the annual Cowboy Breakfast that attracts over 60 thousand people for the one day event.
Balcones Heights is also the home of the largest VIA Park & Ride facility located next to the mall. An estimated 2,700 bus riders and 205,000 passenger vehicles pass through the City on a daily basis.
